Back from the US, part 3, Hogsmeade (1)

from Key West we drove to Orlando, to enter "Hogsmeade" early next morning !!!
The Universal Studios opened at 9 am, but we arrived allready at 8 am. Good so, because we had to sty in line allready. A Lady from Birmingham,GB told me that she had visited Hogsmead the day before, but it was so overloaded with people that they tried another visit very early. When the doors opened, everybody, YES ! EVERYBODY walked straight right and directly into the Wizarding world of Harry Potter ! No one stopped at Seuss Landing or the other attractions, left around a corner at the oriental market, there it was to arch you have to pass to get into Hogsmead !!!

from Newark we took the Amtrak Silver Star and headed forward to Miami, took a rental car and on to Key West...

At Fort Taylor they started preparing for a big Halloween event, but we left allready the other day

we stayed just one night in Key West, we expected more nature, not so much party....

Back from the US, part 1 NYC

Hello my friends,
it took a while for me to get back to normal after our long US trip. The journey was phantastic and we saw so much ! Now I like to share some impressions from our tour. We arrived in Newark New Jersey and stayed there at the Best Western Robert Treat Hotel ( great Hotel, great service, Shuttlebus to the Newark Pennstation). We took the pathtrain from Newark pennstation to go to Manhattan Pennstation, from where you can reach the most NYC places by walking, but we tried also the bus and suburb, everything works fine.

We had breakfast at Tom´s Diner ( where Jerry Seinfeld and friends have met in the TV serie), great breakfast, nice service !

We´ll leave soon and hopp over to the US to see a bit from the other side of world plus doing the Philadelphia Miniaturia November 5th and 6th.It´s my first miniature fair in the US, after doing so many dollshow there in 20 years of being in the dollbuissiness I´m excited like a beginner.
So guess what else ? We will be in the US during Halloween !!! booohooooo..... isn´t that cool ???!!!

I have two Babysitters for the house and the cats. I have warm clothes for the upper eastcoast and light clothes for the lower eastcoast in the bag, slippers and boots, two cameras and 5 Gigabyte to saving photos :o) I´ll try to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando as well as the National Christmas Museum in Lancaster. I´ll promise to take as many photos as I can and show you the best when I´m back. Cross your fingers that the cameras will work !!!But I won´t leave you all here without any autumn impressions from my hometown here.... I had to test the handling of my new/old camera ( I found a great used one at Ebay ! Does perfect shots outside !!)

I´m back from the miniature fair "1zu12". This year the fair was held in new rooms and I must say I really enjoyed the new place !
The organisation was very well, the fair absolutly exciting as allways !
soooo exciting that I forgot my purchases at Irenes table / Miniflora.
Goofy me !!!!! LOLOL
But she kept it safe for me and I´m going to show you all the treasures I bought from her as soon as they will arrive.
Now I ( and you too) can laugh about me, but think about how I froze when I discovered that I had no treasures in my bag when I came home !!!!!!!
Shame on me, that´s because I´m allways in a hurry and have to run back to my table/booth....

Bin wieder von der Miniaturenmesse "1zu12" in Rheda zurück !!!
Dieses Jahr waren wir alle in neuen Räumen und ich muß sagen, es gefiel mir ausserordentlich gut. Die Organisation war prima und die Ausstellung selbst super aufregend.
Soooo aufregend, dass ich Schusselhuhn doch tatsächlich meine tollen Einkäufe bei Irene/ Miniflora auf dem Tisch hab liegen lassen !! Sie hat sie zum Glück entdeckt und schickt sie mir zu. Danke Irene !!!!!!!!!! Das ist weil ich immer wie ein Huhn herumlaufe, keine Zeit habe und schnell zurück zu meinem Stand will. Jetzt kann ich drüber lachen, aber könnt ihr Euch mein dummes Gesicht vorstellen, als ich meine Schätze auspacken wollte und nix da war !!!!

Ganz ganz lieben Dank an Alle die da waren !!!!!!!!!!!!
Ich hoffe ihr seid auch alle wieder gut nach Hause gekommen !!!!

Hi folks, I´m busy busy busy working for an upcoming exhibition end of may here in germany. It is our biggest miniature fair. Please forgive my rare blogging.

Am 28.+29.Mai 2011 könnt ihr mich wieder auf der "1zu12" Miniaturenmesse in Rheda-Wiedenbrück antreffen. Dieses Jahr ist wieder alles neu, neuer Ort, neue Halle, neuer Standplatz. Leider kann ich auch noch nicht sagen wo ich stehen werde, bitte nehmt den Ausstellerkatalog zu hilfe und sucht nach "Janas-Schlösser,Silke"

I´m busy taking photos for the Etsy update I promised,
I´m going to post following OOAK 1/12th miniature figures tomorrow evening/ german time (CET/ MEZ)( UTC+1). ( EST would be about +6 hours)
I´m sorry I can´t tell an exactly time, that is too complicated.
This night we have to switch the clock from 2am to 3am /daylight saving time and I don´t know exactly if USA and Australia will do this too.

I hope you are now as confused as I am,LOL
when checking words through the Google translater I found another word for confused, it is "befuddled", that sounds so funny ! I like that word ! Does this really mean the same like confused or is the translator fooling me again ???

I´m sorry I´m such a bad Blogger at the moment. I´m busy working on a lot of special orders I had taken, and can show you now a finished one.
I need to be very busy this year because I have 2 big miniature fairs I´m participating in .
The first is in May, it is our german miniature Fair
"1zu 12" now in Rheda - Wiedenbrück held on two days end of may , that is pretty soon !!!
and
the other will be the
" Philadelphia Miniaturia" in USA held on 5th and 6th November 2011. ( please check my schedules listed beside the blog)

I have also a few other shows I´m doing
" Schöne kleine Welt" a miniature show in Gießen/Germany
and the
annual Dollery show in Whitman USA I´m participating in since many years with my bigger dolls.

This order shown here is also for the Dollery Store and shows another mix of a big doll with some miniatures in 1/12th scale. The beautiful antique looking books, scrolls and bottles were hand made especially for me by Karin Caspar. ( Thanks a lot Karin !) Yes, she is a miniaturist, but she can create much more than miniature :o)
The witches closet is a vintage one but altered with lots of different stain....
the miniature dolls are posable like my big dolls are, so there should be a lot of fun when the collector starts "playing" with it ;o)

Since I know that I´m doing the Philadelphia Miniaturia in November I have to make plans now how to handle the christmas orders.
So please if you think about asking me for doing special orders for christmas, pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaase ask early, aaaaaas early as you can.
You just need to pay a small deposit for placing the order , the final payment has to be made when the order is finished.

Beside this I´ll try to update my Etsy online shop as often as I can, next update is planned end of this month/ beginning of april with a few new miniature dolls in 1/12th , but I´ll let you know early here at my blog when.

When I´m listing dolls in my online shop, I use allways a currency converter to get through all the exchange rates from EUR into US$ and GBP... and there it happend, can´t tell you how, but I had offered this toddler witch much to high,LOL

Hello my friends,
I´m back from the big special exhibition and event
"3.Sagenhaftes Schaubergwerk" in the Museum in Sassenroth. We had almost 1000 visitors and it was a great success !
I will soon upload photos from this exhibition at (please click) Sagenhaftes Schaubergwerk please visit often because I won´t be able to load all pics at once. It should have been an exhibition of my and Karin Caspar´s work but I´m so sorry that Karin was´n able to participate, but I hope she will enjoy all the pics !!!I took all the things with me which Karin had made for my private collection and have exhibited more than 100 of my original dolls and figures . I hope you´ll enjoy all the photos.

Das Bergbaumuseum in 57562 Herdorf- Sassenroth präsentiert:

Aus der Presse:
Das 3. Sagenhafte Schaubergwerk
Samstag, 30.10. und Sonntag, 31. 10. jeweils 10-17 Uhr
Am letzten Wochenende im Oktober bietet das Bergbaumuseum des Kreises Altenkirchen in Herdorf- Sassenroth die wohl bisher spektakulärste Sonderschau an.
Das „Sagenhafte Schaubergwerk“ ist wieder da. Bereits 2001 und 2006 war die Sonderschau ein großer Erfolg. Noch mehr zu sehen gibt’s nun bei der 3. Auflage.
Das Schaubergwerk des Bergbaumuseums ist auch so schon alles andere als ein langweiliger Ort. Am letzten Oktoberwochenende wird die montangeschichtliche Präsentation jedoch einen Wandel erfahren.
Ein Gang durchs Schaubergwerk führt nun in eine Welt der Fantasie. Durch mystisch anmutenden Nebel gelangt man ins Reich der Elfen und Feen, der Zwerge, Trolle und Riesen.
Gestaltet wurden die fabelhaften Wesen von der international bekannten Künstlerin Silke Janas-Schlösser, die seit 1992 Figuren in den verschiedensten Größen von Hand modelliert und nun zum 3. Mal das Bergwerk bevölkern wird.

Neu im Programm sind neben den großen Figuren nun auch Miniaturen im Maßstab 1:12 und so zeigen sich nicht nur Miniatur -Trolle, -Elfen und –Hexen, sondern diese bringen auch eigens für sie entworfene und gebaute Häuser und Wohnungen mit. Gefühlvolle Ausleuchtung sorgt für märchenhafte Stimmung.

Die Miniaturen mitsamt ihren Behausungen werden gemeinsam mit den großen Figuren nahezu überall im Museum zu sehen sein. An beiden Tagen ist die Künstlerin in der Ausstellung anzutreffen, wo Puppen auch erworben werden können.

Karin Caspar ist aus persönlichen Gründen während der Ausstellung leider nicht anwesend, jedoch werden einige Ihrer Arbeiten in der Ausstellung vertreten sein

here´s what I´ve been up to ....
Don Quijote de la Mancha and Sancho Pansa inclusive horse and donkey and the spanish windmill !

I have allways loved that novel so much and of course I love Spain, it´s been about more than 20 years ago now that I really thought about to emigrate to Spain, I visited a small area from Valencia severall times and was totally in love with the village, the city, the markets, the weather and of course the sea !!

The windmill and all walls are sculpted with paperclay,door and window are from rik Pierce, it´s made like a diorama, like my witches shop before, it´s just a half building with front to save space and to place a scenery in the front.
the dolls and animals are sculpted from polymere clay.. it´ll be soon ready for sale. Please contact me for more informations.

Hi friends I´m back from the Rik Pierce workshop.
It was my 2nd workshop with Rik Pierce and again I enjoyed this workshop soooo much, we had lot´s of fun and lot´s of work to do.
Themebox was: The Tanglewood box, for those who don´t know how the original Tanglewood box looks like, please visit Rik´s web photos at Rik Pierce

In the beginning I thought I´d like a different window and door, i sculpted these with polymere clay and took them with me and had to make them fit ...
The sculpting with papaer clay wasn´t new for me so I pushed myself to start and I decided to change a few things more....I didn´t want the inner room, just the front and more space to place my dolls in the front...

....I exchanged the front sides , wall to the left, door to the left and window to the right
....different window and door
...and topped it with a pink !!!!roof :o)

okay the roof shouldn´t look that pink, I had to work on that ;o)

I´m not yet finished, but you´ll get a first impression here what it´s like, it´s an old witch shop :o)

But....I have started the last day at the workshop allready another project and started with a modified Alchemist shoppe ;o)

Hi my friends, I´m back from the fair. The fair was wonderful ! The weather on saturday was fine, sunday stormy with lots of rain, but we had a great time and sales went well !!!

Noch 2 Wochen...am 29+30 Mai ist wieder die Miniaturenmesse "1zu12" in Soest/ Westfalen.
Ihr findet mich an meinem alten Standplatz, Treppe hoch und da bin ich :o)
Ich werde so einiges im Gepäck haben, bin noch immer ganz fleißig und hoffe ich kann Euch mit vielen neuen Figuren überraschen !
Neue Winterkinder werde ich auch wieder im Gepäck haben !

I was just listing new dolls in my online shop when I used the currency converter to see what´s the prices in US$ and GBP.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......Wow !
The EURO has fallen so deep in comparison to the Dollar that I had to work over my prices !!! So good news for the US collectors, the prices have fallen !!!! IN GBP not that much, but it´s worth to take a peak. I´m going to list 3 new dolls and work all over the pricing. I hope you have fun and enjoy the new dolls :o)

Hier kommt meine Feengesellschaft und übersendet Euch die besten Ostergrüße !
Die Inspiration kam natürlich von Alice im Wunderland, jedoch wollte ich nicht auch noch die Figuren machen, sondern mein eigenes Ding. Immerhin lebe ich ja mit genug Elfen ,Feen und Trollen zusammen um eine hübsche bunte Kaffeetafel bestücken zu können ;o)..allerdings mit Kaffee oder tea war das nix, da mußte schon Heiße Schokolade her, sind halt alles Naschmäulchen :o)

P.S.:Liebe Katie Whittaker´s Miniatures vielen Dank, dass Du sie auf deinem Blog bereits vorgestellt hast !

Of course inspired through Alice in Wonderland, but I didn´t want to create the figures too,I thought it´s better doing my own style.I´m living with lots of fairies, faes and trolls, so why not giving a party for those !? But the discussion if tea or coffee ended rather fast, we choose hot chocolate !Sweet noses they are !!!!!!!!

...sculpting miniature hands

Hands ! I think that´s the most difficult part of sculpting miniatures! Since I started sculpting miniatures last year I thought it might be same like sculpting my other dolls ... WRONG... In the beginning I had so much trouble to sculpt those tiny hands !!! I was allways good in sculpting faces, but the hands...goodness...I remember it took me years to get pleased with the hands for my bigger dolls, but now it took me almost one year to say okay I like the tiny hands I´m sculpting....pooooh ! What do you think ? Here come some old hands.

And now the goal is to learn taking good photos of the miniatures !!!LOL

I know I´m not the best in taking good pics of the miniatures, that´s really difficult with those tinies to get a great shot..."playing" with these is much more fun ,LOL.. but I´m still learning and hoping these pics are much better than the last ones ;o)

Hallo meine Mini-Freunde, ich habe soeben meine CDHM Seite auf den neuesten Stand gebracht. Da gibt´s neue Puppen als auch neue Fotos von meinen Puppen.Ich weiß ich bin nicht der beste Fotograph wenn´s um Miniaturen geht, es ist aber auch echt schwer die Winzlinge zu fotographieren, dafür ist das "spielen" damit umso schöner :o) Ich lerne noch und hoffe dass diese Bilder jetzt besser sind, hier ist der Link um dort hin zu gelangen : Silke´s CDHM Seite

Bin wieder daheim und die Arbeit geht weiter, ich vermisse die Mädels und Rik jetzt schon !!!
Was mir in ewiger Erinnernung bleibt und keiner mehr nimmt ist Rik´s Lachen, Karin C.`s strahlendes Gesicht egal wie verzweifelt wir sind, Kerstin´s wundervolle Stimme und gutes Porzelan auf der Ecke, Ingelein´s trockene Kommentare die mich zum weinen vor lachen brachten, die böse Tante Moni (!), Carolein´s grummeln und brummen, Renate B.´s gute Verpflegung- ich wäre sonst verhungert , Heike die mir den Rücken stärkt, Irmi- der ich die tollen Eulen und ne Maus abgeschwatzt habe, Gabi´s wertvolle Tipps und geduldige Erklärungen für mich blutigen Anfänger, Mareike´s lustige "Doppelverglasung", Martina - mein fluchendes Augenscheinchen gegenüber, Karin S.´s verzweifeltes Gesicht ( du bist nicht alleine !), Anne-Lore´s herzliche kölsche Art ( pass auf Dich auf Liebelein!), Renate G.lachend und winkend auf der anderen Seite des "Schaufensters", Christine´s beruhigende Ausstrahlung wenn ich schon wieder voll in Panik bin, Jutta die leider schon so früh weg mußte und Birgit die mich tapfer ertragen mußte wie ich mich immer wieder durch den Gang quetsche...also das war wirklich eng Kerstin, das lag nicht an meinem Hintern, echt !!! ;o)...ach ja und das Haus !!!

Back from the fair and almost off again to Rik Pierce workshop ! Yeah...doing a little dance...

That was my table, sorry some figures are allready missing. I remembered lately to take photos...It was a phenomenal fair, great mood, brillant customers and exhibitors ! Thanks to everybody who helped to make this fair such a big success !!!! Kiss ! Kiss !

Hagrid

It´s a pitty,I couldn´t decide either. I switched now the heads and the body of Hagrid "wears" now the head with the curly locks... pictures will come soon.But I like the other head too and will give him a body as soon as possible and i REALLY need to try a third one and combine all the positives,LOL ...But not now...later...just a bit later...

I allways wanted to sculpt Hagrid, my most favourite character from the Harry Potter movie.I think the actor is phenomenal, but how to create him in 1/12th ? The biggest problems are his hair and beard !! So I tried two heads for Hagrid, one with curls the other has more fizzy hair but appears more like straight hair... oh dear oh dear.... I should try a third head...hmmm
What do you think ?

Ich will schon seit langem Hagrid modellieren, einer meiner Lieblinge aus den Harry Potter Filmen, Ich finde den Schauspieler großartig ! Aber wie ist es ihn in 1.12 zu modellieren ? Das größte Problem sind seine Haare und der Bart !Ich habe nun 2 Köpfe gemacht, der eine mit Locken, der andere hat zwar krauses Haar , wirkt aber irgendwie glatt... oh Mann oh Mann...Ich sollte vielleicht einen 3.Kopf modellieren...
Was meint ihr dazu ?

Ha, I bought a new camera, second hand but worth ! Thanks to Debbie/ Tiny Treasures ,I had read her post about her camera, she takes awesome pics with her camera...a Fuji Finepix S9500, so I started the search of this special camera and got one at Ebay :o)!!!Now you can find a new Portrait Gallery of my Minis at the bottom of my Mini-Blog.. I´m still trying and training but the difference to my old camera is enormous !!! Check the bottom of my Blog and see !!

If you sculpt a small one you can sculpt the whole body.That´s not so difficult as it seems to be.If you don´t manage it ,you just need to wait a bit till I have some tiny ones done ,LOL
